Anaerobic Digestion Conference Set for June 2026

Anaerobic Digestion Conference Set for June 2026

By Blake Jackson

Penn State Extension will host the “Anaerobic Digestion on the Farm 2026” conference from June 9-11 at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center in State College. This national event will bring together farmers, industry professionals, researchers, and policymakers to explore the latest developments in on-farm biogas systems.

The conference will open with remarks from invited dignitaries, followed by a poster reception where attendees can engage with students presenting research on anaerobic digestion.

The program features a wide range of technical sessions designed to address key topics in the field, including innovative digestion methods, system performance and operation, feedstock and digestate management, and policy advancements. Discussions will also place anaerobic digestion within regional, national, and global contexts.

Panel sessions will highlight important issues such as biogas policy, codigestion strategies, and emerging research trends. Speakers and panelists include experts from leading organizations and institutions, offering diverse perspectives on the future of biogas technology.

An optional pre-conference tour will give participants the opportunity to visit two working biogas facilities, providing a firsthand look at system operations and a chance to interact with site operators.

The event will also emphasize farmer experiences and real-world case studies, while offering ample time for networking and connecting with exhibitors.

Organizers aim to create a balanced program that integrates research, industry insights, policy discussions, and practical farm applications-key elements for advancing biogas adoption.

The conference is coordinated by representatives from several universities and industry groups, reflecting a collaborative effort to support innovation in agriculture.

Early bird registration is available through April 8. For more details, interested individuals are encouraged to contact Dan Ciolkosz at dec109@psu.edu or Johannes Ali at jxa5747@psu.edu.
