Boost beef production - join the 2024 producer field day

By Blake Jackson

The Wurdack Extension and Education Center is excited to host the 2024 Producer Field Day on October 4, from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Located at 164 Bales Road in Cook Station, MO, this year's event will spotlight forage options within tall fescue systems and the intricacies of beef reproduction.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in an informative tour of the center, where experts will share valuable insights on a range of topics.

Key discussions will include cattle reproduction and artificial insemination techniques, reproductive management for replacement heifers, and winter annual forage options.

Additionally, attendees will learn about grain sorghum as a winter feeding strategy, effective beef management on warm-season grass pastures, and the economics involved in converting to native warm-season grasses. The session will also cover strategies for assessing cool-season grass pastures for potential renovation.

The event is free of charge and includes lunch following the tour. To ensure your spot, please register online or contact the Crawford County Extension Office at 573-775-2135.

Join us for a day of learning and networking focused on enhancing beef production and forage management!
