Clay County Hosts Monarch Waystation Workshop on April 23

Clay County Hosts Monarch Waystation Workshop on April 23

By Blake Jackson

Residents of Clay County are invited to take part in a Monarch Waystation Workshop on April 23 at 5 p.m. at the Clay County Extension Office in Manchester, Kentucky. The event focuses on supporting monarch butterflies by creating habitats that help them survive and reproduce.

Organizers will guide attendees through the basics of establishing Monarch Waystations, including site selection, planting recommendations, and maintenance tips. The workshop also marks the second year of a local effort to expand pollinator-friendly spaces throughout the county.

Participants will have the opportunity to sign up for Monarch Waystation kits and receive helpful resources to set up their own habitat at home.

Designed as both an educational and community-building event, the evening will include discussion, planning, and shared learning among participants interested in conservation.

The workshop will be held in a potluck format, encouraging attendees to bring a favorite dish to share while connecting with others who are passionate about protecting pollinators.

Those interested in attending are encouraged to register in advance by contacting the Clay County Extension Office at (606) 598-2789 or clay.ext@uky.edu.
