CO2 pipeline boosts economic growth potential

CO2 pipeline boosts economic growth potential

By Scout Nelson

Summit Carbon Solutions has achieved a significant milestone with the North Dakota Public Service Commission granting a route permit for its CO2 pipeline project. This decision reflects the Commission’s commitment to balancing economic opportunities and community interests through a detailed review process.

Wade Boeshans, Executive VP of Summit Carbon Solutions, expressed gratitude for the Commission's thoughtful evaluation. He stated, “We commend and respect the North Dakota Public Service Commission for their diligence and thoughtful approach in reviewing this project.

This decision is a testament to North Dakota’s commitment to fostering innovation while working closely with communities and industries. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with stakeholders across the state to deliver long-term benefits for farmers, energy producers, and local communities.”

Summit Carbon Solutions has prioritized collaboration with landowners, community leaders, and other stakeholders in North Dakota. The company has made substantial adjustments to the pipeline route based on community feedback, ensuring alignment with the state’s priorities. These efforts reinforce North Dakota's leadership in agriculture and energy innovation.

With over 82% of land easements secured for the North Dakota route, Summit remains dedicated to maintaining transparent communication and cooperation with affected communities. This collaborative approach strengthens trust and enhances project planning.

The pipeline project is designed to support the state’s energy innovation goals while opening markets for low-carbon ethanol, ultimately contributing to regional economic growth. Summit has already secured a permit for the pipeline route in Iowa and will apply for a permit in South Dakota soon.

As the project advances toward construction and operations, Summit Carbon Solutions continues to work closely with stakeholders, demonstrating its commitment to creating a sustainable and economically beneficial solution for North Dakota.
