North Dakota ranchers receive needed support

North Dakota ranchers receive needed support

By Scout Nelson

The ONEOK Foundation has donated $100,000 to the North Dakota Stockmen's Association (NDSA) and North Dakota Stockmen's Foundation (NDSF)'s Out of the Ashes Wildfire Disaster Relief Program.

This program supports cattle producers who suffered significant losses due to historic wildfires in North Dakota. With this contribution, the relief fund has reached $723,114.56.

In early October, severe weather caused wildfires that burned around 126,000 acres, leaving ranchers facing extensive damage. The relief fund offers vital assistance to those who lost pasture, hay, fencing, buildings, and livestock.

"This relief program will provide financial support for cattle producers who have lost pasture, hay, fencing, building structures and livestock," said Julie Ellingson, NDSA Executive Vice President. "These contributions offer hope as those who were impacted begin the long rebuilding process."

The efforts of first responders, volunteer firefighters, and ONEOK employees were instrumental in protecting communities during the fires. ONEOK President and CEO Pierce H.

Norton II expressed gratitude to those who faced personal danger to safeguard others. “The courage and commitment of the first responders, volunteers and employees who selflessly faced personal danger to protect our community demonstrated our Core Value of Service. I want to personally thank them for their efforts," he said.

The Out of the Ashes program continues to play a crucial role in aiding recovery. "ONEOK's significant contribution bolsters the relief effort and will go a long way in providing needed support to those in need," Ellingson added.

Individuals and organizations can contribute to the relief program by donating directly through the NDSF. For more information or to apply for assistance, visit www.ndstockmen.org or call (701) 223-2522. Every contribution helps those affected by this disaster rebuild their lives.
