The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is hosting a free workshop focused on invasive species management on Wednesday, August 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the 3M Clubhouse Building, located at 2120 E. Austin Boulevard in Nevada, Missouri.
This informative event will explore practical strategies to reduce the spread of invasive plants and promote native vegetation. Topics will include the use of fire, mowing, grazing, and other targeted approaches to improve land health.
Presentations will be given by experts from the Missouri Farmers Association (MFA), University of Missouri Extension, Monarch Drone Solutions, Natural Resources Conservation Service, and MDC. Lunch will be provided for attendees.
Invasive species are known for their rapid spread and ability to outcompete native plants, often disrupting natural ecosystems and limiting land use options for property owners. These aggressive species can pose challenges for those managing farmland, pasture, or wildlife habitat.
Landowners interested in improving forage quality, managing red cedars, restoring wildlife habitat, avoiding monocultures, or increasing overall farm resilience are encouraged to attend.
