Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County will host a Beekeeping Basics 2026 program on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 1 to 3 p.m. at its office in Middletown, New York.
The educational session is designed for individuals interested in starting beekeeping as a hobby or business in their backyards, on their acreage, or on farms.
Randall Cass, Honey Bee Extension Associate at Cornell University, will lead the program and introduce participants to the fundamentals of successful beekeeping.
The session will cover essential equipment, first-year startup costs, honey bee health management, and basic marketing strategies for selling honey.
A panel of Hudson Valley beekeepers will also join Cass to answer questions and share practical experiences from their beekeeping operations. The program will be offered in English and Spanish. If registration is low, both sessions may be combined, with Spanish interpretation provided.
The registration fee is $15 per person. The event will take place at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County Office, 18 Seward Avenue, Suite 300, Middletown, NY 10940.
