Cornell Dairy Discovery 2025 - Hands-On Learning for Youth

Cornell Dairy Discovery 2025 - Hands-On Learning for Youth

By Blake Jackson

New York youth interested in dairy science have an exciting opportunity to participate in the annual Dairy Discovery program at Cornell University.

This hands-on, science-focused event introduces participants to key aspects of dairy production and management.

Designed for youth ages 14 to 19, the program provides an interactive learning experience featuring industry professionals, Cornell staff, and unique facilities on campus.

Held one Saturday in March, Dairy Discovery gives students a deeper understanding of dairy careers through a series of engaging workshops.

Each year, workshop topics vary but often include Dairy Herd Health and Management, Calf and Heifer Production, Quality Milk and Milk Production, Whole Farm Planning, and Feed Management Strategies.

These sessions allow participants to explore various fields within the dairy industry while gaining practical knowledge and skills.

The 2025 Dairy Discovery program will take place on March 29, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM at Frank Morrison Hall.

Due to the hands-on nature of the event, enrollment is limited to 75 participants. Those interested should register early to secure a spot.

For additional details or to sign up, contact Debbie Grusenmeyer at djc27@cornell.edu. This program is a fantastic opportunity for youth passionate about dairy science to enhance their knowledge and explore future career paths.
