Dairy Signal Offer Spring Tips and Market Insights

Dairy Signal Offer Spring Tips and Market Insights

By Blake Jackson

This week’s episodes of The Dairy Signal, presented by the Professional Dairy Producers (PDP), are designed to help farmers prepare for the spring season with timely insights and expert guidance.

The upcoming sessions will address key topics affecting forage crops and provide an in-depth look at current dairy and grain markets.

On Tuesday, April 21, the focus will be on assessing forage conditions following winter. Cold temperatures and harsh weather can significantly impact crops such as corn silage and perennial alfalfa.

During this session, Bob Wilms, Northeast Wisconsin District Sales Manager with Renk Seed, will share practical advice on identifying winter injury, evaluating stand density, and assessing overall plant health.

These insights will help producers anticipate potential yield losses and make informed management decisions as the growing season begins.

The Thursday, April 23 episode will feature market expert Ben Buckner, Chief Grains and Dairy Analyst at AgResource Company. This interactive session will explore factors influencing agricultural markets, including weather patterns, export trends, and global policy developments.

Participants will gain a clearer understanding of how these variables may impact their operations and profitability.

The April series is sponsored by DLF, a global leader in forage seed. Known for its research-driven approach, DLF offers high-performing forage solutions designed to maximize yield and farm profitability, including trusted alfalfa brands such as Forage First, 5 Series, and Alforex Seeds.

All Dairy Signal episodes are accredited through Dairy AdvanCE (DACE), allowing participants to earn continuing education units (CEUs).

Sessions are broadcast live from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. CT on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with recordings available afterward at https://pdpw.org/.
