Dutch Meadows Dairy Named MSU 2025 Dairy Farm of the Year

Dutch Meadows Dairy Named MSU 2025 Dairy Farm of the Year

By Andi Anderson

Michigan State University (MSU) has recognized Dutch Meadows Dairy LLC, owned by Tony Jandernoa, as the 2025 Dairy Farm of the Year. The award, given annually since 1958, honors outstanding dairy farms that demonstrate excellence in management and leadership in Michigan’s dairy industry.

Jandernoa, a first-generation dairy farmer, founded Dutch Meadows Dairy in 1987. Over the years, his farm has expanded significantly, adding Meadowbrook Dairy in 2016 and acquiring Berlyn Acres in 2022, increasing their milking herd by 2,000 cows.

Today, Jandernoa manages 6,000 milking cows and 3,200 youngstock across three facilities, with operations spanning 4,000 acres dedicated to corn, alfalfa, sorghum, and triticale production.

His commitment to sustainability and innovation has set his farm apart. He was an early adopter of sand lanes, a system that separates sand from manure, enhancing waste management. His Meadowbrook Dairy is also preparing to launch anaerobic digesters in 2025 to generate renewable natural gas, further reducing environmental impact.

Beyond his farm’s success, Jandernoa is a leader in Michigan’s dairy industry. As Vice Chairman of the Michigan Milk Producers Association and Chair of the Farmer Sustainability Advisory Committee, he has played a key role in industry policy and sustainability efforts.

Jandernoa and his wife, Patti, are also passionate about agricultural education. They hosted MSU’s first Breakfast on the Farm in 2009 and frequently collaborate on research projects, mentoring young farmers.

The award will be presented on April 24, 2025, at the MSU Dairy Industry Celebration, recognizing Dutch Meadows Dairy’s contributions to Michigan’s agriculture sector.
