Farmers, farm workers, and rural residents will have an opportunity to strengthen their safety knowledge at Farm Safety Day on July 17, 2026, at Morrison's Cove Memorial Park in Martinsburg, Pennsylvania.
The event, hosted by Penn State Extension and local partners, will run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and focus on practical strategies for reducing accidents and improving safety on farms.
The program will combine classroom instruction with hands-on demonstrations, giving participants valuable information on a variety of agricultural safety topics.
Sessions will cover annual maintenance practices for barns and farm structures, emergency preparedness planning, power take-off (PTO) safety, hydraulic hose hazards, tractor rollover response procedures, and manure storage safety.
Attendees will also learn about working safely in confined spaces, proper livestock handling techniques, and how to respond when arriving first at the scene of an accident.
In addition, participants can take part in Stop the Bleed training and learn how to properly use a fire extinguisher. The Martinsburg Fire Department will showcase its new fire extinguisher simulator, providing realistic training experience for attendees.
Several resource booths will be available throughout the event, offering information on biosecurity practices, ATV safety, tick awareness, farm-related stress management, pressure canner gauge testing, and other topics relevant to agricultural operations and rural living.
The event is open to farm owners, farm families, farm employees, and anyone interested in improving safety in agricultural settings.
Organizers hope the program will help participants identify potential hazards, adopt safer work practices, and connect with organizations that provide ongoing safety support.
Those who attend may receive a complimentary slow-moving vehicle sign and a Stop the Bleed kit while supplies last. Registration is required by July 15, 2026.
