The Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA) will be showcasing its Raising Hope Safety, Health, and Rescue Program at the 59th annual National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Kentucky, from February 12-15, 2025.
“Farming has its risks, but healthy farmers, both physically and mentally, equates to healthier farms,” Commissioner Shell said. “For years, KDA has offered world-class safety and rescue demonstrations. Recently, with our Raising Hope program, we also began focusing on the health aspect of our agriculture producers. Adding health screenings during the National Farm Machinery Show allows us to fulfill our mission and promise of advocating for healthy farming communities.”
The KDA will be conducting farm safety demonstrations, including tractor safety, PTO safety, ROPS demonstrations, and grain bin rescue techniques. In addition, they will provide information on "Share the Road" safety and signage.
Furthermore, the KDA will offer free health screenings, including blood sugar, blood pressure, and hearing tests, along with resources for mental well-being and general health education. These screenings will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day of the show.
The Raising Hope program, a collaborative effort between KDA and other agricultural, educational, and healthcare institutions, aims to improve the physical and mental health and safety of Kentucky's farming community.
The program now falls under the KDA umbrella and integrates with the Department's Farm Safety program.
The National Farm Machinery Show attracts thousands of attendees each year, providing a platform for farmers to learn about the latest agricultural products, equipment, and services.
The KDA's presence at this event will raise awareness about farm safety and health issues and provide valuable resources to farmers and their families.
