Free Garden Tour in Carlisle on August 9 by Penn State

By Blake Jackson

The Penn State Master Gardeners of Cumberland County invite the public to attend the Allen Road Garden Tour on Saturday, August 9, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Allen Road Gardens, located at 310 Allen Road, Carlisle, PA 17013. This outdoor event is free and open to all ages, with no registration required.

Guests can enjoy guided garden tours from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and again from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. These tours showcase a variety of themed gardens, including herb, vegetable, pollinator, groundcover, xeriscape, and rain gardens.

At 10:30 a.m., a special presentation will focus on native pollinator plants in Pennsylvania and explain how participants can certify their gardens as Pollinator Friendly Habitats through Penn State.

Visitors can engage with Penn State Master Gardeners to ask questions and learn about the Master Watershed Steward Program. Families will also find activities for children and youth, such as a bug hotel craft, a scavenger hunt, and more interactive fun.

To learn more about the event, contact the Penn State Extension office at 717-706-6040, email CumberlandExt@psu.edu, or visit the Penn State Extension website.
