Iowa Seeks Leaders Making A Difference In Agriculture

Iowa Seeks Leaders Making A Difference In Agriculture

By Andi Anderson

A new opportunity is open to recognize individuals who are making a strong impact in agriculture. Nominations are now being accepted for a special recognition program that honors people contributing to the growth and success of agriculture and rural communities.

This recognition program highlights individuals who show leadership, creativity, and dedication to improving the agricultural sector. It focuses on those who are helping create a more sustainable future, strengthening local economies, and supporting community development. The award also values those who conserve natural resources and contribute actively as leaders, family members, and volunteers.

“We want to honor, recognize and highlight Iowans who are making positive changes and creating a more sustainable Iowa,” said Madeline Schultz, agriculture and natural resources extension specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach. The award acknowledges Iowans who are improving economic resiliency and stability; conserving natural resources; and being influential agricultural leaders, family members and community volunteers.

The program encourages people from all backgrounds to take part by submitting nominations. Anyone can nominate a deserving individual by completing a simple online application. The form asks for details about the nominee’s leadership skills, achievements, and overall impact on agriculture. However, employees of the organizing institution are not eligible for the award.

Nominations will remain open until the end of June, giving communities enough time to recognize individuals who are making real differences in agriculture. This inclusive approach ensures that many deserving candidates can be considered.

"This recognition highlights individuals who are making a lasting difference in agriculture across the state," said Schultz. “Their leadership and forward-thinking efforts are helping strengthen Iowa agriculture today while building momentum for the future.”

Selected honorees will be recognized at a major agricultural leadership conference scheduled in December. The event will bring together leaders, farmers, and professionals to celebrate achievements and discuss the future of agriculture.
