Iowa State University’s Northeast Research and Demonstration Farm is set to host its spring field day on June 19, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event, centered at the Borlaug Learning Center Headquarters, promises insightful presentations on contemporary agricultural challenges and practices.
Kicking off the program, Madelynn Wuestenberg, an agricultural climatology extension specialist, will delve into the expected crop weather and trends for the 2024 growing season.
Following her, Rick Cruse, a professor and the director of the Iowa Water Center, will explore the ongoing effects of soil erosion on Iowa's landscape and the current methods being employed to mitigate its impacts.
Richard Roth, an extension nitrogen education specialist, will share his expertise on managing nitrogen effectively, especially considering the challenges posed by a wet spring.
A complimentary meal, sponsored by Pioneer Hi Bred International, will be served at noon, providing attendees an opportunity to network and discuss the topics presented.
The event is open to the public and free of charge, ensuring broad accessibility to these valuable discussions.

Directions to the farm are clear: from Nashua at the junction of Highway 218 (Exit 220) and County Road B60, head west on B60 for 1.1 miles to Windfall Ave., then south for 1 mile to 290th St., and finally east for 0.2 miles to reach the farm.
