Discover Ag advances at NDSU field days

By Scout Nelson

North Dakota State University (NDSU), recognized as an R1 research institution, has officially announced the schedule for its annual field days at Research Extension Centers across North Dakota.

Greg Lardy, the Joe and Norma Peltier Vice President for NDSU Agriculture, highlights the purpose of these events as platforms to demonstrate research-based solutions that enhance agricultural productivity in various sectors, including crop and livestock management, precision agriculture, and value-added activities.

The field days are open to a diverse audience including farmers, ranchers, crop advisors, landowners, horticulturalists, and other stakeholders. Each event offers a unique blend of speakers, tours, and field demonstrations tailored to the specific research focus of the center.

Here are the scheduled dates and focus areas for each center:

  • July 8: Central Grasslands Research Extension Center, focusing on rangeland management from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. CDT.
  • July 9: Two sessions at Dickinson Research Extension Center, with an agronomy tour in the morning and a session at Hettinger Research Extension Center in the afternoon focusing on various agricultural practices.
  • July 10: A livestock tour at Dickinson in the morning and agronomy and horticulture tours at Williston Research Extension Center in the evening.
  • July 11: A morning irrigation tour at Williston's Nesson Valley Irrigated Site.
  • July 15: Evening event at Agronomy Seed Farm.
  • July 16: Carrington Research Extension Center offers a full day of tours covering livestock, agronomy, organic and sustainable agriculture, and horticulture.
  • July 17 and 18: Morning sessions at North Central and Langdon Research Extension Centers, respectively.

These field days provide an opportunity for direct engagement with NDSU’s leading agricultural researchers and an up-close look at the cutting-edge studies and developments in modern farming. Attendees are encouraged to register in advance to participate in these comprehensive educational experiences.
