Join 2024 American Dairy Goat Association Convention

By Blake Jackson

The 2024 American Dairy Goat Association (ADGA) Convention will take place on October 21, 2024, at the Grand Geneva in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

This year's convention emphasizes the role of dairy goats in promoting agricultural sustainability, particularly as livestock that contribute to lower environmental impact.

Attendees can look forward to a range of insightful discussions and presentations. One highlight is a session led by Margaret Chamas, Livestock Viability Manager at Practical Farmers of Iowa. Margaret will explore the benefits of conservation, management, and outreach through dairy goat farming, emphasizing its relevance in today’s agricultural landscape.

Another key presentation will be given by Dr. Mary Grace Erickson, a Post-Doctoral Associate at the University of Minnesota. Mary will address the challenges and opportunities in goat dairying amid climate change, focusing on the environmental impacts and sustainable practices that can be adopted.

Additionally, Fauna Smith, a veterinarian and Assistant Professor at UC-Davis, will share her expertise on disaster preparedness in a changing climate, drawing from her experience as both a veterinarian and dairy goat owner.

This convention promises to be an enriching experience for those interested in sustainable agricultural practices and the dairy goat industry.
