Join Hmong Farmers Conference in Central Wisconsin

By Blake Jackson

Hmong farmers and growers from across central Wisconsin are invited to attend the HMoob Farmers/Growers Gathering on March 14 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Lake View Conference Center in Wausau. This free, daylong event is designed to provide practical education, valuable resources, and meaningful networking opportunities for Hmong-speaking agricultural producers.

The gathering welcomes both beginning and experienced farmers, as well as families involved in vegetable production or other farming activities. Sessions will be presented in both Hmong and English, with interpretation and language assistance available throughout the day to ensure all participants can fully engage.

Educational topics will cover a range of important subjects, including crop production practices, soil health, sustainability, and strategies for managing insects, diseases, and weeds. Attendees will also learn about farm business planning, market development, branding, and available grants and loan programs that support agricultural operations.

The program will feature brief presentations followed by time for questions and open discussion. Partner organizations will host resource tables, offering information and support services tailored to farmers’ needs.

Participants will also have opportunities to connect with fellow growers, share experiences, and build community relationships. Lunch and snacks will be provided. Registration is required to attend.
