In September, Laclede County will celebrate Agriconomy Week, a new initiative organized by the Laclede County Commission in collaboration with the University of Missouri Extension Council of Laclede County.

The event will honor Laclede County 4-H and FFA youth during the annual 4-H Award Recognition Banquet, scheduled for Saturday, September 28, at Wall Street Cattle Co. in Lebanon.

At this banquet, selected youths will be recognized, and scholarship recipients will be announced. Nomination and application forms for the awards are available. https://lacledecountymoagtour.org/youth-in-ag-award-2024

The week-long event, from September 30 to October 4, is themed “Growing Laclede County’s Economy Through Agricultural Entrepreneurship.” It aims to provide current and aspiring farmers, as well as policymakers, with valuable opportunities to expand their knowledge and build networks.

Randy Angst, the presiding commissioner of Laclede County, expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating, “The Commission is thrilled with the success of the 2023 ag tour, and we have decided to continue our partnership with MU Extension, expanding the event into a full week of activities to involve more Laclede County farmers and agriculture enthusiasts.” He emphasized the importance of the week in promoting growth and collaboration within the agricultural community.

Angst also highlighted the significance of the new award series, noting, “Our youth are the architects of the rural lifestyle we cherish in Laclede County. The Commission, in collaboration with MU Extension, is proud to present a new award series with scholarships that acknowledge the exceptional contributions of our 4-H and FFA youth.”
