Join Lincoln University Farm Conference - Boost Profit

By Blake Jackson

Lincoln University’s Horticulture Program, in collaboration with the Southeast Missouri Outreach Centers, is set to host a free, informative conference for farmers and producers looking to enhance their agricultural operations.

The event will take place on July 17, 2025, from 7:30 PM to 12:30 AM IST at the Sikeston Impact Center, located at 214 Lincoln Street, Sikeston, Missouri.

With the theme “Money Making and Money Saving,” the conference aims to educate participants on strategies to improve farm profitability through USDA programs, effective planning, production, marketing, and sales techniques.

This no-cost event will feature a variety of expert-led sessions. Topics include increasing farm income, choosing the most profitable crops, sustainable farming with native plants, and accessing USDA and SARE (Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education) resources available to underserved farmers.

The conference will begin with a welcome by Dr. Touria Eaton, Mike Crowden, and Bradley Hayes of Lincoln University, followed by an engaging session titled “Everyone Can Have a Green Thumb” by Maurice Theriot, Executive Director of South Side Farms.

Other presentations include “How to Make Money Through Native Plants” by Dr. Nadia Navarrete-Tindall, and “Utilizing Your Crops to Their Optimum Usage and Profit” by Judith R. Mutamba.

Participants will enjoy a free networking lunch hosted by Lincoln University and hear further insights from Bradley Hayes on crop selection, Dr. Touria Eaton on SARE grant opportunities, and Mike Crowden on USDA programs for Missouri farmers.

The event concludes with evaluations and adjournment at 2:00 PM.

To register, contact Dr. Touria Eaton at EatonT@LincolnU.edu or call (573) 681-5174. Alternatively, reach out to Mike Crowden at CrowdenM@lincolnu.edu or call (573) 225-2440.
