Grape growers, winemakers, and wine enthusiasts will have an opportunity to learn about the latest developments in viticulture during a free field day hosted by the University of Missouri Southwest Research, Extension and Education Center on July 17.

The event will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. at the center’s facility located at 14548 Highway H in Mount Vernon. Participants can attend educational presentations and field tours focused on grape production, vineyard management, and current industry trends.

Topics on the agenda include irrigation technologies, disease and pest management strategies, and recent research involving grape varieties such as Chambourcin and muscadine.

Experts will also discuss new opportunities in grape production and share practical insights for vineyard operations.

Speakers will include specialists from the University of Missouri, the University of Arkansas, the Missouri Department of Agriculture, and members of the grape and wine industry.

Sessions will cover the status of Missouri’s grape and wine sector, vineyard disease control, nematode management, irrigation tools, and grower experiences.

The event is supported by the Missouri Department of Agriculture, the MU Grape and Wine Institute, and the MU Southwest Center. Attendance is free, but organizers encourage advance registration.
