Farmers in Kentucky impacted by prolonged excessive moisture in 2025 are now eligible for federal assistance through a Secretarial natural disaster designation.
The designation enables the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) to provide emergency loan support to help producers recover from weather-related losses.
The disaster, identified as S6145, covers excessive moisture conditions that occurred between April 1 and December 31, 2025. These conditions may have significantly affected crop production, livestock operations, and overall farm stability across the region.
Through this program, eligible producers can apply for emergency loans to address a variety of recovery needs. Funds may be used to replace essential equipment or livestock, reorganize farming operations, or refinance certain existing debts.
Each loan application will be evaluated by FSA based on the extent of the applicant’s losses, available collateral, and their ability to repay the loan.
The application deadline for assistance is November 12, 2026. In addition to affected areas in Kentucky, producers in contiguous counties such as Carroll and Trimble may also qualify.
Farmers are encouraged to contact their local USDA Service Center to file a Notice of Loss or learn more about available recovery programs.
