The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), in partnership with the University of Missouri Extension and the Grouse Chapter of the Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation, will host a Forest and Wildlife Management Workshop on September 12, 2026, in Portland, Missouri.
The educational event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon on the property of Bill and Margie Haag and is designed for landowners, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone interested in improving wildlife habitat and forest health.
Participants will learn about effective land management practices that support wildlife populations, sustainable timber harvesting methods, and the use of prescribed fire as a tool for managing forests and grasslands.
Experts from partnering organizations will be available throughout the workshop to answer questions and share practical recommendations for managing private lands.
The event aims to provide attendees with valuable information that can help improve habitat quality while promoting long-term conservation and sustainable land use practices.
The workshop is free and open to the public, and lunch will be provided. However, advance registration is required. The Haag property is located at 8801 Little Tavern Creek Road in Portland, Missouri.
