Learn Livestock Ultrasound at Jefferson City Clinic

Learn Livestock Ultrasound at Jefferson City Clinic

By Blake Jackson

A hands-on livestock ultrasound clinic for youth will be held on April 25, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Cole County Fairgrounds in Jefferson City, Missouri.

Designed for participants ages 8 and older, the program offers an engaging opportunity to explore how modern technology is used in livestock production.

During the session, attendees will learn how ultrasound equipment helps evaluate important carcass traits such as muscle development, fat thickness, and marbling while the animal is still alive.

Understanding these traits is essential for making informed decisions about breeding, feeding, and overall herd management.

The clinic aims to connect carcass data with meat quality and livestock evaluation, giving youth a clearer picture of how production practices impact final outcomes. Participants will also gain exposure to real-world applications across different livestock species.

For additional details or to register, interested individuals can contact MU Livestock Specialist Chrisee Brandl at chriseebrandl@missouri.edu or 573-642-0755.
