Learn organic farming

Looking for a rewarding career that makes a difference? Consider earning a certificate in organic farming in just one year. Organic farming allows you to contribute to producing healthy food, improving your community, and protecting the environment.

According to the Organic Trade Association, over 82% of U.S. households purchase organic products, and Americans spend nearly $50 billion annually on organic goods. This rapidly-growing industry offers opportunities for those passionate about sustainability and agriculture.

Delaware Valley University offers a comprehensive 36-credit Organic Farming Certificate Program that provides both classroom learning and hands-on farm experience. The program includes courses on commercial vegetable production, sustainable agriculture, organic food and fiber, soil biology, and plant health. You will also complete a practicum at one of the university’s partner farms, gaining practical experience in the field.

Students can choose to begin the program in any of the three academic terms—fall, spring, or summer—allowing flexibility for part-time or full-time enrollment. Upon completion of the program, you will be equipped with the skills to either work for an existing organic farm or start your own small-scale, sustainable operation. The program also offers job placement assistance and business plan development to help you transition into a career in organic agriculture.

The Organic Farming Certificate can be applied toward a bachelor's degree in Sustainable Agriculture at Delaware Valley University. Veterans are eligible to use their education benefits for this program, as it is a Yellow Ribbon School. Financial aid is available for non-veterans as well.

By joining this program, you become part of a professional network of organic farmers who offer ongoing support and mentorship.
