The Center for Dairy Excellence will host its upcoming “Protecting Your Profits” webinar on Friday, May 9 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
The session is titled “Know Your Numbers: Cost of Production and Break-Evens Simplified” and aims to help dairy producers better understand the financial side of their operations.
Jacob Thompson and Andy McCarty, both seasoned dairy business advisors from Land O’Lakes, will lead the webinar. They plan to break down the often complex calculations behind a farm’s cost of production and break-even points.
Their goal is to make it easier for producers to use these financial figures to forecast potential margins and strategically engage with risk management tools.
“It’s important to know your dairy’s numbers, but there is a lot that goes into the equation. That’s why we’re excited to invite Jacob Thompson and Andy McCarty back to the ‘Protecting Your Profits’ webinar series to simplify the process of understanding your farm’s break-evens,” said Valerie Mason-Faith, Risk Education Manager at the Center. “They’ll discuss how to discover your farm’s break-even price and, in turn, determine your Class III/IV break-evens so you can implement a sound risk management plan for your dairy operation. This should be an open, simplified and very resourceful discussion, so I hope you’ll consider joining us on May 9.”
Discussion topics include the differences between cash and accrual accounting, principal payments versus depreciation, and the step-by-step process for calculating Class III/IV break-even prices.
Attendees will also learn how to apply these insights to improve margin forecasts and make informed decisions about risk management.
The session will be available in multiple formats: webinar, podcast, and conference call. Participation is free and no registration is required.
