Mid-Year Financial Check Helps Farmers Plan for Profitability

Mid-Year Financial Check Helps Farmers Plan for Profitability

By Blake Jackson

The Center for Dairy Excellence is inviting dairy producers to participate in a free "Protecting Your Profits" webinar on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.

The online session, titled "Mid-Year Pulse Check: Review Your Dairy’s Financial Health," will focus on evaluating financial performance and preparing for the remainder of the year.

The webinar will feature Rob Goodling, a business consultant with Farm Credit East, who will discuss current dairy financial conditions, year-to-date operational performance, and strategies to improve profitability during the second half of the year.

“Low prices in quarter one are slowly reversing, but most dairies are definitely in stressed-cash positions.  How can we monitor performance and determine what needs there may be in the second half the year?” said Valerie Mason-Faith, Risk Education Manager at the Center for Dairy Excellence.

“Goodling plans to help dairy producers answer these questions and more through an open conversation and lots of number crunching. I hope you can join us for this timely July webinar.”

Participants will learn how to compare actual financial results with their budgets to identify areas of success and opportunities for improvement.

The webinar will also examine milk production and operational efficiencies, highlighting ways to reduce costs while maintaining herd performance.

In addition, attendees will explore business liquidity and discuss practical methods for managing cash flow as market conditions improve.

Goodling brings more than 22 years of experience helping agricultural businesses analyze financial records, develop budgets, manage cash flow, evaluate production costs, and improve business performance.

Goodling expertise also includes feasibility studies, QuickBooks consulting, dairy record analysis, and team facilitation.

Valerie Mason-Faith will serve as the webinar moderator. Registration is free, and participants will receive connection details by email after signing up. A recording of the session will also be made available following the live event.
