Soybean growers in Missouri facing a newly confirmed disease, can gain valuable insights at the upcoming Midwest Crops Conference.
This two-day event held January 21-22, 2025, at Stoney Creek Hotel in St. Joseph, offers a comprehensive look at critical crop issues.
University of Missouri Extension's Mandy Bish, a state plant pathologist, will be a key speaker. Her presentation dives deep into red crown rot, a disease confirmed for the first time in Missouri. Bish will also discuss look-alike fungal diseases, including a recent discovery not previously considered a major threat.
"We'll address other pressing soybean concerns," says Bish, highlighting topics like resistance breakdown to Phytophthora, rising charcoal rot and Diaporthe cases, and soybean cyst nematode management.
The conference goes beyond soybeans, offering insights on corn and wheat as well. Attendees will learn about the latest findings on pests, diseases, and management strategies for these key crops.
Experts from the University of Missouri, University of Nebraska, and Kansas State University will share their knowledge on controlling input costs, cover crop management, nutrient management, and what to expect in the 2025 growing season. Leading industry specialists will also be present.
