The University of Missouri Extension invites lenders serving farmers and rural communities to the 44th annual "What Ag Lenders Need To Know in 2025" seminar series.
Ben Brown, an agricultural economist with MU Extension and the event organizer, stated that agricultural business and policy specialists will present on a range of topics including market outlooks, farm financial conditions, and land values.
Brown encourages both new and experienced lenders to attend the seminars to gain valuable insights for servicing their clients effectively.
Seminar topics include:
- 2025 commodity outlooks.
- Production costs and agricultural enterprise budgets for 2025.
- Updates on local land values and cash rents.
- Farm policy outlook and updates on the farm bill.
“Crop and livestock producers frequently ask about management options during periods of low margins and high interest rates, indicating rising liquidity concerns,” said Brown.
“There is also significant interest in enterprise budget calculators and federal safety net programs. These seminars aim to provide lenders with the knowledge to help their clients mitigate risks and make sound management decisions.”
In-person seminars will be held at the following locations in Missouri, starting at 10 a.m.:
- Nov. 5 – Jefferson City
- Nov. 7 – Mount Vernon
- Nov. 14 – Sikeston
- Nov. 19 – Bolivar
- Nov. 21 – Chillicothe
- Nov. 26 – Mexico
In addition to the in-person seminars, registered lenders will have access to an exclusive webinar series available in early 2025. These webinars are designed to update participants on emerging issues ahead of spring planting.
Attending the Missouri Agricultural Lenders Seminar has become a tradition for many. One 2023 attendee remarked, “Great meeting, always look forward to it every year.” Another attendee praised the event as a valuable resource.
By participating in the "What Ag Lenders Need To Know in 2025" seminars, lenders will be better equipped to provide their clients with the tools and information necessary to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the coming year.
