Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom has introduced its new Read and STEAM lessons, now available to educators across the state. The program pairs 13 accurate agriculture-themed books with hands-on activities, giving students the opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and math while making meaningful connections to agriculture.
To support educators, the initiative also provides training resources, including workshops, digital templates, and online tools. These materials are designed to ensure teachers can easily integrate the lessons into a variety of classroom and community settings.
The Read and STEAM project is designed to spark student curiosity, enhance classroom engagement, and broaden understanding of agriculture’s role in everyday life. All lesson plans are free and accessible through the Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom website, wisagclassroom.org.
Funding for the program comes from a 2025 CHS Foundation Educating Next Generation Agricultural Leaders Grant, awarded through National Agriculture in the Classroom. Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom has now received this competitive grant for three consecutive years, securing a total of $30,000 in support.
The most recent $10,000 grant funded the development of lesson content and training tools for PK-12 educators, helping integrate agriculture into social studies, English language arts, and science education.
