Farmers, researchers, and industry professionals are invited to attend a field walk showcasing the latest developments in cover crop breeding.
The event will provide a hands-on opportunity to explore trials and breeding nurseries from the Cover Crop Breeding (CCB) Network, highlighting both established and emerging crop varieties.
Participants will be able to view Advanced Line Trials featuring single-row plots of crops such as crimson clover, hairy vetch, winter pea, cereal rye, and winter canola, displayed alongside commercial check varieties.
In addition, the National Cover Crop Variety Trials, now in their second year, will present larger plots of commercial and near-commercial varieties developed through the CCB Network.
Attendees can also visit a winter pea nursery that includes a wide selection of early-generation germplasm, offering insight into the breeding pipeline.
The field walk is designed to encourage interaction and knowledge sharing, allowing attendees to engage directly with researchers and discuss ongoing advancements in plant breeding.
Hosted by the Moore Lab within Cornell’s School of Integrative Plant Science (SIPS), the event will take place on April 29, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Homer C. Thompson Vegetable Research Farm in Freeville, New York.
