Nominations Open for 2026 Jan Harding Ruslavage Dairy Award

Nominations Open for 2026 Jan Harding Ruslavage Dairy Award

By Blake Jackson

The Jan Harding Ruslavage Memorial Service & Promotion Award is now accepting nominations for 2026. Created in 2024, the program honors the legacy and contributions of Janet Harding Ruslavage to Pennsylvania’s dairy community while recognizing young leaders who are helping strengthen the industry’s future.

The award is designed to celebrate individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 who have shown outstanding dedication to dairy service, promotion, leadership, and education.

In addition to receiving recognition for their efforts, the selected recipient will be awarded a $3,000 cash prize and honored during the Pennsylvania Dairy Princess State Pageant in September.

Eligible candidates must be Pennsylvania residents, between 18 and 30 years old, have completed high school, and be pursuing a career connected to the dairy sector.

Nominations may be submitted either by the individual themselves or by someone wishing to acknowledge their accomplishments.

The selection committee will focus on individuals who demonstrate strong character and a commitment to serving others. Desired qualities include integrity, leadership, a positive attitude, compassion, dedication, and a genuine passion for the dairy industry.

Nominees should also have a proven record of making meaningful contributions that benefit dairy producers, organizations, youth programs, research efforts, education initiatives, or community outreach activities.

Examples of qualifying involvement may include promoting dairy products and agriculture, serving in leadership roles within dairy organizations or breed associations, mentoring young people, supporting dairy education programs, increasing public awareness about the industry, or contributing to research and innovation that advances the dairy sector.

Nominations must be submitted by August 3, 2026. The online nomination form is available through the Center for Dairy Excellence website at https://www.centerfordairyexcellence.org/janet-harding-ruslavage-award/.
