North Dakota State University Extension will host its 2026 Horse Management Webinar Series to help horse owners improve everyday care and decision-making. The free online sessions will take place at noon Central Time on March 11 and March 18.
The webinar series is open to horse owners, stable managers, and equine enthusiasts. Each session will share research-based information presented by veterinary and equine health professionals. The goal is to provide practical knowledge that participants can use right away.
“Our goal with this webinar series is to give horse owners practical, research-based information they can use right away,” says Mary Keena, NDSU Extension livestock environmental management specialist. “Whether it’s recognizing early signs of an eye issue or understanding what to expect with neurologic concerns, these sessions are designed to help owners feel more confident in caring for their horses.”
The March 11 session will focus on equine ocular, or eye health. Dr. Lynn Martin from the University of Missouri Veterinary Health Center will explain common equine eye problems. These include corneal ulcers, squamous cell carcinoma, and equine recurrent uveitis. Participants will learn how to spot early warning signs and provide safe first aid while waiting for veterinary care.
The March 18 session will cover equine neurologic conditions. Dr. Sally DeNotta from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine will lead this webinar. Neurologic conditions can affect both the performance and pleasure of horses. The session will review common neurologic issues and explain available veterinary diagnostic options if an owner suspects a problem.
Registration is required to attend the webinars. Interested participants can visit ndsu.ag/horsewebinar26 to register for the Zoom webinars.
This webinar series provides a convenient and educational opportunity for horse owners to strengthen their knowledge and improve horse health management before the busy season begins.
