PA Farm Bureau Launches Rural Road Safety Week April 15

PA Farm Bureau Launches Rural Road Safety Week April 15

By Blake Jackson

The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau will host a news conference on April 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. to kick off Rural Roads Safety Week, an initiative focused on promoting safer driving practices on Pennsylvania’s rural roads during the busy spring planting season. The event will take place at Dotterer Dairy, located at 6658 Nittany Valley Drive, Mill Hall, PA.

Speakers will include Pennsylvania Farm Bureau President Chris Hoffman, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Deputy Secretary Lisa Graybeal, PennDOT Executive Deputy Secretary Larry Shifflet, and representatives from the Pennsylvania State Police.

Together, they will emphasize the importance of staying alert and cautious when sharing the road with farm vehicles, which are commonly seen on rural routes during spring.

Rural Roads Safety Week serves as a timely reminder for motorists to slow down, remain patient, and be aware of agricultural equipment moving between fields and farms.

With spring being one of the busiest times for Pennsylvania farmers, the potential for roadway interactions between motor vehicles and slow-moving farm machinery increases significantly.

The campaign aims to reduce accidents and raise awareness among drivers about the unique challenges of traveling on rural roads during planting season.

The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau encourages all motorists to drive carefully and respect the role farmers play in maintaining the state’s food supply and rural economy.
