Penn State to Host Annual Weed Management Field Workshop

Penn State to Host Annual Weed Management Field Workshop

By Blake Jackson

Agricultural professionals will have the opportunity to explore the latest developments in weed control during an upcoming hands-on field workshop scheduled for July 9, 2026, at the Agronomy Research Farm at Rock Springs in Pennsylvania Furnace, Pennsylvania.

The event will bring together industry representatives, crop consultants, and seed dealers interested in learning about current weed management practices and emerging technologies for agronomic crop production.

Participants will gain firsthand exposure to field demonstrations and research trials focused on improving weed control in field and forage crops.

Attendees will review the performance of new burndown and in-crop herbicide products and examine herbicide programs designed for farming systems that incorporate cover crops.

The workshop will also showcase the use of targeted-spray technology and its potential role in enhancing weed management in Pennsylvania no-till production systems.

In addition to herbicide-based approaches, the program will highlight research examining how ecological and cultural practices influence weed populations.

Experts will also provide updates on herbicide-resistant weed species and discuss environmental and climatic factors that affect weed management decisions.

Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) continuing education units in pest management, along with pesticide recertification credits, will be available for participants. Space is limited and advance registration is required. The deadline to register for the event is July 2, 2026.
