By Blake Jackson

In June 2024, Pennsylvania saw a notable increase in egg production, totaling 671.6 million eggs, a 2% rise from the previous year. This production comprised 622.8 million table eggs and 48.8 million hatching eggs.

The state's layer flock averaged 27.3 million during this period, reflecting a 2% growth from June 2023. Each layer produced 2,462 eggs, slightly up from last year's figures.

When comparing egg production statistics across the Northeastern states, Pennsylvania stands out with a substantial contribution.

For June 2024, the state had a significant number of table egg layers in flocks of 30,000 and more, totaling 26,747, an increase from 23,655 in June 2023. This boost in production aligns with the overall trend of rising egg outputs in Pennsylvania.

In terms of productivity, Pennsylvania's egg production per 100 layers was 2,462, marking a slight increase over the previous year's 2,457 eggs per 100 layers.

This improvement highlights the efficiency and productivity of Pennsylvania's egg farming operations.

Overall, Pennsylvania continues to be a leading contributor to the egg industry in the United States, with its robust production figures underscoring the state's significant role in meeting national egg demands.
