Pennsylvania Farm Bureau to Address PPL Allenwood Transmission Project

Pennsylvania Farm Bureau to Address PPL Allenwood Transmission Project

By Blake Jackson

The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau will host a press conference on Monday, July 13, at 11:00 a.m. to discuss the proposed PPL Allenwood transmission project and its potential effects on local farming communities in Union and Lycoming counties.

The event will take place near Snoddy Farms Inc. in Allenwood, with the gathering held across the road on the hilltop property where the proposed transmission lines are planned to pass.

Local farmers Terry Snoddy, Todd Hiller, Janet Sellard, Brad Sunanday, Allen DiMarco, and Brett Taylor will be joined by Pennsylvania Farm Bureau State Board members Andy Bater and Jason Wolfe.

During the media event, participants will explain how the proposed route could affect family-owned farms, including multi-generational agricultural operations and preserved farmland.

Farmers will also discuss the importance of protecting productive agricultural land while recognizing Pennsylvania's growing need for expanded energy infrastructure.

The group plans to encourage decision-makers to consider routing transmission lines through existing utility or public corridors whenever practical. They believe this approach could help reduce impacts on private property, preserve valuable farmland, and support the long-term sustainability of rural communities.
