Pennsylvania farm grant helps plan for future

Pennsylvania farm grant helps plan for future

By Blake Jackson

Pennsylvania's Farm Vitality Grant Program empowers farmers to strategically plan for their operation's long-term success. By reimbursing up to 75% of approved project costs (with a maximum of $7,500), the program grants valuable financial support for crucial planning endeavors.

This initiative is particularly beneficial for farmers seeking to:

  • Launch a new agricultural enterprise
  • Expand their current farm's production capacity
  • Introduce diverse income streams through new agricultural products
  • Craft a well-defined retirement plan
  • Facilitate a smooth ownership transition to the next generation

The grant specifically covers expenses related to professional services, such as business plan development, marketing strategy creation, or succession planning consultations. It's important to note that capital purchases like equipment or supplies are not eligible for reimbursement.

Getting started is easy. Just create a Keystone Login account and apply through the Department of Community and Economic Development's Single Application for Assistance online portal.

Additionally, Penn State Extension's Business, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development Team provides valuable assistance with the application process, ensuring a smooth experience for Pennsylvania farmers.

By leveraging this program, farmers can gain access to professional guidance and financial resources, ultimately strengthening the long-term viability and sustainability of their agricultural operations. To learn more or schedule a consultation, email businessfinancemarketing@lists.psu.edu.
