The Michigan Association of Conservation Districts (MACD) has announced Rivka Hodgkinson as its new executive director, following a unanimous decision by the association. Hodgkinson, who has served as interim director since January 2, 2024, brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the role, succeeding Dan Moilanen.
Hodgkinson's appointment is met with anticipation and support from stakeholders like Laura Campbell of Michigan Farm Bureau, who emphasizes the critical role of Conservation Districts in land and water conservation efforts. MACD plays a pivotal role in assisting landowners and farmers in preserving Michigan's natural resources through voluntary, non-regulatory programming.
With a background in media, marketing, and public relations, Hodgkinson is well-equipped to lead MACD into a future of enhanced communication and collaboration. During her interim tenure, she prioritized engagement with Michigan's 74 active Conservation Districts, fostering stronger connections and understanding.
In addition to her role with MACD, Hodgkinson serves as an elected board member in the Ottawa Conservation District, further grounding her commitment to environmental stewardship at the local level.
Under Hodgkinson's leadership, MACD is poised to continue its mission of promoting conservation and environmental sustainability across Michigan. Through partnerships with local, state, and federal organizations, MACD will continue to deliver impactful programming and support to communities statewide.
