The online Pesticide Safety Precertification workshop, being offered by the University of Minnesota Extension, is designed to help new pesticide applicators prepare for the certification exam and improve their understanding of safe pesticide use. This Zoom-based training focuses on Category A Core requirements and supports individuals who plan to certify in 2026 or licensed applicators who want to add a new license category.
Precertification workshops provide structured learning to help participants understand important safety practices, regulations, and exam expectations. Although the course prepares attendees for certification, the actual pesticide licensing exam is not included in the workshop. Participants must separately schedule their certification testing through the Minnesota Department of Agriculture website after completing the training.
Registered participants will receive Zoom link details approximately seven days before the workshop. Organizers encourage attendees to regularly check their email for important updates and instructions. The workshop also provides an agenda outlining session topics to help learners prepare in advance.
Additional training opportunities, including both online and in-person options, are available through the Commercial and Non-commercial Pesticide Safety page for those seeking further education.
The workshop is intended for new applicators entering the field as well as currently licensed professionals expanding their qualifications. The registration fee for the program is $100, and registration closes on March 1, 2026. Participants must register separately for each license category they wish to pursue. The registration page includes detailed information about deadlines, fees, cancellation policies, and available options.
Because the session is delivered online, only one registered participant is allowed per Zoom link. Attendees are advised to test their equipment before the workshop, as technical assistance is not provided during the training. Refunds, credits, or transfers are not available for technology-related issues, so preparation is important to ensure a smooth learning experience.
Overall, this workshop offers a clear and professional learning environment that helps participants build confidence, improve pesticide safety knowledge, and prepare effectively for certification requirements.
