The Pennsylvania Agricultural Innovation Grant offers a unique opportunity for farmers and agricultural businesses to advance their operations through technology, conservation, and renewable energy innovations.
With the application deadline of November 15, this program is an ideal way to implement sustainable practices that improve profitability and resource management on farms.
This is a reimbursement grant, meaning approved applicants can receive a portion of their expenses back. The required cash match varies between 30% and 50%, depending on the type of grant. The program offers three funding levels:
- Innovation Planning Project Grant ($7,500 - $50,000): For those looking to develop a strategic plan to innovate agricultural practices and improve technology or methods. This grant requires a 30% cash match from non-state sources.
- Onsite Project Grant ($5,000 - $200,000): Designed to support individual farm projects, this grant focuses on implementing innovative technology or practices directly on farms. A 50% cash match from non-state sources is required.
- Regional Impact Project Grant ($100,000 - $2 million): Aimed at projects that address broader challenges, these grants support multi-farm initiatives or regional efforts to enhance efficiency, meet specific goals, or address community needs. This grant also requires a 50% cash match from non-state sources.
Eligibility Requirements include Pennsylvania residents who grow or process agricultural commodities, individuals offering technical support, and cooperatives creating products or energy from agricultural goods.
Eligible applicants should have anticipated sales exceeding $2,000 annually for growers or $10,000 for processors.
Grant-supported projects can include upgrades like precision sprayers, smart spray systems, and equipment that reduce energy and labor costs. For instance, orchard farmers may invest in precision weed sprayers or harvest platforms to streamline their operations.
Applications highlighting innovative or novel uses of technology have a higher chance of approval, particularly those that focus on energy efficiency, environmental benefits, or productivity gains.
Interested applicants are encouraged to contact extension educators for support or additional information on the application process.
This initiative reflects a significant investment in Pennsylvania agriculture, aiming to make farming operations more efficient and sustainable.
Don’t miss this chance to elevate your farm’s potential apply by November 15 and take a step toward a more innovative future in agriculture.
