Solar facilities impact on property values in New York

Solar facilities impact on property values in New York

By Blake Jackson

On December 9, 2024, from 12 PM to 1 PM, the Eastern New York Commercial Horticulture will host a webinar exploring the effects of large-scale solar facilities on property values in New York State.

As New York pursues its ambitious climate and renewable energy objectives, the conversion of agricultural and rural lands for solar energy generation raises significant questions.

Wendong Zhang, an agricultural and extension economist from Cornell University’s Dyson School, will present recent research findings that assess how the development of large-scale solar facilities impacts property values.

This analysis will consider both residential homeowners and farmland owners, providing a comprehensive overview of the economic implications of solar energy infrastructure.

The transition to renewable energy is crucial for achieving sustainability goals, yet it is essential to understand how such developments may affect local property markets.

Participants in the webinar will gain insights into the potential benefits and challenges associated with solar facility installations.

To register for this informative session, please visit the Cornell University webinar registration page. Join us to learn about the evolving landscape of renewable energy and its economic effects on New York's properties.
