Farmers and agricultural producers in New York who have experienced damage due to excessive snow may be eligible for Physical Loss Loans through the USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA).
These loans are designed to help producers repair or replace essential physical property that is critical to their agricultural operations.
Eligible losses include damage to farm buildings, equipment, livestock, perennial crops, harvested or stored crops and hay, and fruit or nut-bearing trees.
The recent weather-related disaster has prompted loan availability in several primary counties, including Chautauqua, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Oneida, and Oswego.
In addition, farmers in the contiguous counties of Cattaraugus, Cayuga, Erie, Fulton, Hamilton, Madison, Montgomery, Onondaga, Otsego, and St. Lawrence may also qualify for assistance.
To apply, producers must submit their applications by the deadline of December 7, 2025. Resources such as the Disaster Assistance Discovery Tool, the Disaster Assistance-at-a-Glance fact sheet, and the Loan Assistance Tool available at farmers.gov can guide applicants through the available aid options.
