USDA, USTR boost trade with new advisors

USDA, USTR boost trade with new advisors

By Jamie Martin

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack alongside U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai, have announced the appointment and reappointment of 55 individuals to seven pivotal agricultural trade advisory committees. These committees were established by Congress to guarantee that the voices of U.S. agricultural stakeholders are heard and considered in shaping trade policies and objectives.

At the helm is the Agricultural Policy Advisory Committee, comprising senior leaders from the U.S. agriculture sector. This committee provides broad policy advice to both the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.

Meanwhile, the six Agricultural Technical Advisory Committees offer specialized technical guidance reflective of their respective product sectors.

The newly appointed advisors are set to serve through 2028, bringing fresh perspectives and insights crucial for navigating the complex landscape of international trade.

The USDA and USTR continue to welcome applications for committee memberships, ensuring a diverse and dynamic panel reflective of America's agricultural diversity.

This initiative underscores the commitment of the USDA and USTR to transparent and inclusive trade policy formulation, aimed at bolstering the competitiveness of American agriculture on the global stage.

More details and a complete list of committee members can be found on the official USDA website.
