UW–Madison hosts field day on nitrogen solutions

UW–Madison hosts field day on nitrogen solutions

By Blake Jackson

Join the UW–Madison Division of Extension Agriculture Institute for an insightful field day at the Marshfield Agricultural Research Station on July 11. The event, running from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., will focus on biological nitrogen-fixing products and current field research. Participants can earn CCA CEUs for attending.

The field day kicks off at the Marshfield Agricultural Research Station, located at 208356 Drake Ave N, Stratford, WI 54484. Dan Marzu will start the session by introducing trials related to biological nitrogen-fixing products, including the treatments being tested, the measurements being taken, and the hypotheses being explored.

Following Marzu, Chris Bandura will provide insights into nitrogen management on poorly drained soils. The event will conclude with a presentation by Steven Hall titled “Biologicals: What Are They, and Do They Work?”

Speakers for the day include:

  • Dan Marzu, North Central WI Nutrient and Pest Management Outreach Specialist with UW–Madison Extension
  • Chris Bandura, Conservation Cropping Outreach Specialist with UW–Madison Extension
  • Steven Hall, Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist in the Department of Plant and Agroecosystem Sciences at UW–Madison

This field day offers an excellent opportunity for hands-on learning and discussion about biological nitrogen-fixing products and effective nitrogen management strategies.
