The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) has certified six candidates for two positions on the Wisconsin Cranberry Marketing Board.
These nominations were finalized by May 31, 2024. The election process commenced on July 10, 2024, and cranberry growers have until August 15, 2024, to cast their votes.
The nominees are:
- David J. Bartling from Manitowish Waters
- Reanna Beck from Warrens
- Asa Bennett from Wisconsin Rapids
- Nathan Grygleski from Tomah
- Nicole Hansen from Necedah
- Sean O’Brien from Manitowish Waters
Ballots were dispatched to eligible growers during the week of July 8, 2024. If any growers have not received their ballot by July 19, they can request a new one by reaching out to DATCP Market Orders Program at DATCPMarketOrders@wisconsin.gov.
Completed ballots should be sent to WI DATCP, Market Order Program, P.O. Box 8911, Madison, WI, 53708, and must be postmarked by August 15, 2024.
The newly elected members will serve three-year terms starting September 1, 2024. The Wisconsin Cranberry Marketing Board is made up of seven cranberry growers from across the state. It manages the collection and allocation of about $385,000 in assessment fees from Wisconsin cranberry growers.
These funds are crucial for advancing the cranberry industry through research, educational initiatives, and promotional activities that highlight Wisconsin-grown cranberries. DATCP oversees the electoral process for Wisconsin commodity marketing boards.
