West Plains Teacher Earns Golden Owl Recognition

West Plains Teacher Earns Golden Owl Recognition

By Blake Jackson

Tonya Jedlicka, an agricultural education teacher and FFA advisor at West Plains R-VII School District, has been selected as a semi-finalist for the Missouri FFA Foundation’s inaugural Golden Owl Award, sponsored by Nationwide.

The Golden Owl Award recognizes Missouri agricultural educators who have made a substantial impact on shaping the future of agricultural leadership. Mrs. Jedlicka is one of just 18 teachers chosen from nearly 400 statewide nominations, marking a significant achievement for both her and the West Plains FFA program.

As a semi-finalist, Mrs. Jedlicka will progress to the next stage, where seven finalists will be chosen. Each finalist will receive a $500 cash award and an engraved plaque. One outstanding educator will be named the Missouri Agriculture Educator of the Year at the Missouri FFA State Convention, with a grand prize of $3,000 and the prestigious Golden Owl Award trophy.

This recognition is a testament to Mrs. Jedlicka's dedication and hard work in inspiring and preparing the next generation of agricultural leaders. Congratulations to her for this well-earned honor.
