Wild Turkey Habitat Tips - Free Missouri Webcast

Wild Turkey Habitat Tips - Free Missouri Webcast

By Blake Jackson

Looking to increase wild turkey numbers on your property? The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is offering a free educational Wild Webcast titled “Wild Turkey Habitat Help” on Wednesday, February 25, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.

During this session, MDC Turkey Biologist Nick Oakley and Private Land Conservationist Meagan Duffee-Yates will discuss strategies to create and improve habitat for wild turkeys and other wildlife. The webcast will focus on the Turkey Habitat Initiative (THI), a program designed to assist landowners and managers in enhancing eastern wild turkey habitats across Missouri.

A major factor limiting turkey populations is insufficient brooding and nesting areas. By improving these habitats, landowners can increase nest success and poult survival, ultimately supporting stronger turkey populations.

THI provides practical resources and guidance for managing land in ways that supply hens and poults with the food, cover, and space they need to thrive. Improving turkey habitat also benefits other wildlife species, landowners, and local communities.

In addition to habitat tips, the webcast will cover updates to spring turkey-hunting regulations and other relevant information.

Interested participants must register in advance at mdc.webex.com/weblink/register/r85b2cee23939751569f3438683b1fe4e. After registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to join the live session. Be sure to check your Junk or Spam folders to ensure you receive it.
