Wisconsin names future Ag leaders

By Blake Jackson

Wisconsin is investing in its future agricultural leaders by announcing the members of the next Wisconsin Agriculture Youth Council! These 15 high school seniors, hailing from various communities across the state, will serve year-long terms during the 2024-2025 school year.

The Wisconsin Agriculture Youth Council bridges the gap between young people and the exciting world of agriculture. The council's mission is multifaceted:

  • Career Exploration: Council members gain valuable insights into the diverse career paths available in agriculture, from production and agribusiness to science and communications.
  • Resource Awareness: They'll be equipped with knowledge about resources available to farmers, fostering a strong foundation for their potential future careers.
  • Policy Engagement: The council offers a platform for these young leaders to gain firsthand experience with agricultural policy development, providing a voice for their generation on these important issues.
  • Networking Opportunities: Throughout the year, council members will participate in monthly meetings, fostering connections with peers and industry professionals, building a network that will benefit them throughout their agricultural journeys.

"We're thrilled to welcome this talented group of students," said DATCP Secretary Randy Romanski. "Their passion for agriculture, combined with their strong communication skills, will make them valuable assets to the council. We look forward to their active participation throughout the year."

Monthly meetings throughout the school year will provide a platform for these young leaders to delve into various aspects of agriculture.
