The 100th annual Audrain Soils & Crops Conference will take place from 6:20 to 8:40 p.m. on Monday, March 2, at the top floor of the Hart Career Center, located at 905 Wade Street in Mexico, Missouri.
The conference was originally scheduled for January but was postponed because of severe winter weather, according to University of Missouri Extension agriculture business specialist Mary Sobba.
The event will feature presentations from MU Extension specialists, Extension Master Gardeners, representatives from the USDA and local Soil and Water Conservation districts, as well as Audrain County residents living with alpha-gal syndrome. Together, speakers will provide research-based information and practical insights relevant to both agricultural producers and home gardeners.
A wide range of topics will be covered, including weed control strategies, the use of drones in agriculture, soybean varieties and pest management, warm-season grasses, and current tax considerations. Sessions will also address straw bale gardening techniques and raise awareness about alpha-gal syndrome.
The conference is free to attend; however, organizers ask participants to register by February 27 to help ensure adequate meals and materials.
